Two neighbors. Two lifetimes of service. One shared belief that Alton and Barnstead deserve real representation in Concord.

Laura is a retired public school teacher who spent 32 years in the classroom teaching English and Special Education. She believes public schools are the gems of our society — and that every child who works hard deserves a real chance at success.
Like many New Hampshire families, Laura and her husband Frank were shocked when their property taxes nearly doubled after retirement. So they went back to work — Laura part-time at Gunstock, Frank driving school buses. That experience is exactly why she's running.
"New Hampshire is a great state, but our current representatives continually vote with the Free State agenda — taking money away from local communities and then blaming our community for not being fiscally responsible. This kind of cost shifting is why I'm running."
Laura is deeply rooted in her community. She serves as Secretary of the Suncook Lakes Association, alternate trustee for the local library, a volunteer for Barnstead's 300th Anniversary Committee, and a notetaker at Selectboard meetings. She and Frank are also working with the state to develop a long-term Stormwater Management Plan to protect their lakes for future generations.
Laura has never run for political office. But as she puts it: the line for complaining is long, and the line for helping is short. She's on the short line — and she would be honored to earn your support.

Nancy Mitchell

Nancy grew up in New Hampshire and has called Alton home since 2007. She honorably served her country for nearly 24 years in the military, and used the GI Bill to earn a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Granite State College. She is running for State Representative to serve her community — not political parties or special interests.
Nancy understands the challenges facing families, retirees, and working people. In the last decade alone, over $3 billion has been downshifted from the state to local towns and cities (Source: NHMA). Our current Republican representatives have been part of that trend — cutting assistance to local governments while leaving communities to pick up the tab.
As a supporter of the Second Amendment, Nancy believes in responsible gun ownership and respecting constitutional rights while keeping our communities safe.
Nancy is passionate about protecting the purity of our lakes, rivers, and open spaces. "This isn't just an environmental issue," she says. "It's about protecting our economy, our property values, and our way of life." She supports efforts to save the Alton Dam and explore converting it to hydro-electric power to lower energy costs for residents.
Nancy believes our country works best when people participate — whether that's volunteering, attending town meetings, serving on a committee, or simply voting. She wants to hear your concerns and ideas, and work together on practical solutions for the citizens of Alton and Barnstead.

Two Towns. One Voice.
Alton and Barnstead share a district — and they share the same challenges. Laura and Nancy met through local committee work and quickly realized they were fighting the same battles from different towns. Running together means both communities have a seat at the table.
They're not career politicians. They're your neighbors — and they're running because they believe this district deserves representatives who actually live here, know the issues, and will show up for the people who sent them.
